Competition
STC Houston holds an annual Online Communication, Technical Art, and Technical Publications competition. This competition is held in fall/winter of each year and the Distinguished Award winners are entered into the STC International competition.
Important Dates
Judging Information
Competition entries are judged by teams of experienced technical
communicators. STC Houston judging teams are organized and coordinated
by the judging manager for each of the three competitions.
To initiate the judging, each judge is expected to attend the Judging
Orientation meeting, where volunteer judges receive instruction in how
to judge and score entries appropriately and how to work together in a
judging team. At this meeting, judges receive their personal packet of
information including the three to five entries they are to judge, The
Judges Orientation materials contains the packet of entries, the judging
guidelines, a list of important competition dates, and whom to contact
for questions.
After all entries have been judged, judges are expected to attend a
Judging Consensus meeting where individual judging teams can finalize
their work, decide if any of their entries merit nomination for best of
show, and prepare to present their nomination. Once all the best of show
nominations have been presented, judges in attendance participate in
choosing the best of show recipient for each of the three competitions.
